フォルドゥシー「シャーナーメ」または「王書」は黒柳恒夫、及び岡田恵美子訳の２種類の邦訳が出ています。しかし、どちらも全訳ではなく、全体の前半
3/5に相当する部分の、更に抄訳となっています。フィルドゥシーの「シャーナーメ」は、実は結構な大作で、英訳だと、9冊にもなっています。そこで、英
訳版の目次と巻割を簡単に紹介し、ご興味のある方の便宜を図りたい、ということが、今回の記事の目的です。
英訳版は１種類、それも1925年に翻訳されたものが、2000年に復刻されたものが出ているだけのようです。Routledgeというロンドンの書店
から出ている版が全訳であり、それ以外の「シャーナーメ」との題名をもる書籍は、抄訳か、部分訳版となります。ラストの第9巻に全体の目次が掲載されてい
て、その目次だけでも37ページに及ぶため、ここでは、目次の大項目と中項目までを記載します。小目次は、数ページ毎にあるため、小目次まで書くと、どち
らかというと粗筋になってしまう観があります。

第9巻の後半は、目次、索引など。8冊ちょいのうち、ササン朝が占めるのは6巻の初めの方から9巻の初めまでの約3冊分ということになります。全体を通じ
て一番長いのが、カイ・ホスロー王のパート658ページもあり最長。ただし英雄ルスタムと、トゥーラーンとの抗争を扱っています。ササン朝で一番長いの
は、ホスロー１世の部分で286ページ。ついで、ウィシュタースパの253ページ、続いて、ホスロー２世の227ページ、バフラーム5世の147ページ、
アレクサンダーの122ページ、ホルミズド4世の107ページと続きます。
というわけで、参考になりましたでしょうか？ この本は約190ドルと高額なため、購入する時のご参考にされるといいかと思います。
